ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties listed below include, but are not limited to, the various types of work that may be performed by individuals in this classification. Any of the following duties may be performed. All employees are expected to maintain professional proficiency by attending conferences and meetings, reviewing reports, reading professional journals, and networking with others in area served; maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner; maintain regular job attendance and adherence to working hours; follow all City policies; follow all established safety rules and procedures.
Function as team member in the management and operation of the wastewater treatment plant; provide technical and operational input during the design and construction process for improvements to those facilities; provide technical guidance and make improvements and modifications as appropriate to ensure highly productive and effective work teams and programs.
Supervise assigned employees on a recurring daily basis which includes scheduling and assigning work; mentoring, coaching and training; reviewing work for completion; evaluating performance and providing necessary feedback to employee; setting work standards; imposing or effectively recommending necessary disciplinary action; responding to grievances; effectively recommend hiring and termination decisions.
Plan, direct, and supervise the staff who monitor the performance of all equipment, trends and laboratory data in the treatment plant and pump stations; record statistical data concerning plant operation; maintain, operate, repair, and replace equipment as necessary; record lab test results for trend analysis and maintain accurate records of analyses and test results; evaluate data and write reports as required.
Represent the City of Lebanon by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor. Regard everyone, internal and external, as a customer, and deliver the best service possible in a respectful and patient manner.
Responsible for compliance with federal and state permit requirements, rules, regulations, and reporting for each facility. Liaise with state and federal officials concerning plant operations.
Ensure that supervised staff maintains a safe working environment and compliance with federal and state health and safety guidelines and regulations.
Keep abreast of current regulatory trends affecting various areas of responsibility.
Develop budget goals, objective, policies, and maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and service interruptions; efficient and effective utilization of staff to cover facility operations.
Schedule day-to-day work activities of plant operations staff. Resolve schedule conflicts and ensure each shift is adequately filled and staffed. Coordinate with other departments on wastewater or water related activities.
Review plant operational information and monitoring reports for accuracy and recommend/direct appropriate operational adjustments.
Maintain professional networks and attend training sessions and conferences as necessary to advance skills and keep abreast of issues and practices in all areas of responsibility.
Serve as a member of various City committees as assigned.
Assist other staff in the performance of their duties as assigned.
