The City of Salem is hiring two permanent part-time Office Assistants to work at Center 50+ (18 hours per week). Join us and support the daily operations of Center 50+’s volunteers and fundraising/special events!

What you will do:
We currently have two vacancies and each position has a special focus area as highlighted below.
Volunteer Assistant:
Maintaining and updating Volunteer database, including process applications, renewals, and resignations and coordinating volunteer requests, generating reports
Maintaining volunteer calendar of events
Fundraising/Events Assistant:
Maintaining and updating donor database
Offer assistance at fundraising or special events
Both positions will:
Provide excellent customer service by explaining programs & activities, including all programs that utilize volunteers.
Provide regular coverage of outreach table in Connections Center and participate off-site at WOW Van and Villages Network events as needed, including the promotion of Center 50+ programs and services at information fairs & other events
Respond to calls/emails, redirecting them to other employees when appropriate and/or making outside referrals when necessary
Schedule appointments with volunteers for initial interviews, trainings, and on-going volunteer tasks.
Assist in organizing meetings and workshops, including reserving meeting sites, arranging for refreshments, preparing agendas, taking and distributing minutes, issuing required notifications and maintaining pertinent records
Deliver support in the creation and distribution of various types of printed documents. (ie: forms, reports, correspondence, flyers, lists, schedules, etc.)
Assist with the onboarding process and retention of all volunteers, participate in the interview process, training activities, and recognition events
Assist with maintaining Social Media presence on Facebook and Instagram

Position schedule is 18 hours a week, Monday through Friday, between 9:00am to 1:00pm.
What are the minimum qualifications?
A high school diploma or GED.
Two years of experience in general clerical/reception work involving public contact in person and providing administrative support, or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
Must pass the pre-employment background check.
May be required to pass a pre-employment drug test (depending on area of assignment).
Must have an Oregon Driver license and meet the City of Salem’s driving standards (depending on area of assignment).
A typing certificate may be required for certain assignments.
What you will bring along:
(Preferred Qualifications; not required to apply)
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
Coursework in business technology or a related field that included office procedures and computer operations.
Two (2) years’ experience working directly with older adults.
Friendly and helpful customer service skills to represent Center 50+ with enthusiasm.
Confidence in coordinating multiple tasks.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Experience with data management.
Interpersonal skills and experience working with a diverse community.
Ability to problem solve and take initiative.
