This position interacts with a variety of patrons with a focus on adults. Responsibilities include working service desks, answering patron questions and recommending resources, offering in-person and virtual programming to adults, including outreach visits, mentoring volunteers, handling cash, merchandising, assisting patrons using the library’s downloadable resources and databases and participating in Library System events. This position provides customer service, readers advisory to library patrons of all ages, including children and their caregivers, and students from elementary school through college.
The City currently has a 20-hour per week vacancy at Mustang Library, located at 10101 N 90th Street, Scottsdale AZ.
Please note:
This position will require an individual to work evenings and weekends, which could include a flexible schedule that may vary from week to week.

Part-time positions are unclassified, meaning they are at-will and serve at the discretion of the City of Scottsdale.

PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Six months of library or related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
Provide and model exceptional customer service by making the customer the first priority.
Establish, maintain, and foster positive, harmonious, professional, and effective working relationships.
Create and deliver exceptional programming and educational opportunities within the library, through community outreach, and virtually.
Communicate library policies and procedures, request compliance with Library Rules of Conduct, and serve as “In-Charge” person in the evenings, on weekends, and as assigned.
Work at all public service points to include Customer Service Desk where payments are processed.
