POSITION SUMMARY
The Laborer maintains the upkeep of grounds, building and machinery within the City.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience: No experience required, however, prefer at least one (1) year of similar work experience and/or education. Employee is expected to perform the job satisfactorily in accordance with the adopted personnel policies of the City.
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and proper use of departmental tools and equipment is required. Laborer must be able to safely operate all departmental equipment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid CDL within one (1) year of employment.
Problem Solving: Moderate problem solving is involved in this position.
Decision Making: Moderate decision making is involved in this position.
Supervision: This position does not require any supervisory duties.
Personal Relations: Daily contact with the general public, co-workers and supervisors.
Working Environment: Works primarily 80% of the time outside year-round in all climate conditions, exposure to all types of weather including adverse conditions may be expected. Employee is exposed to excessive noise, heights, pesticides, herbicides and other seasonal landscaping chemicals.
Physical Demands: Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment required. Employee performs manual labor including digging, standing, bending, climbing a ladder, and walking long distances, lifting and carrying heavy loads, tree removal, and operating heavy tools, equipment and machinery, power mowers chain saw, leaf and snow removal equipment, etc. are required on a daily basis. Laborer must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Work Hours: Primary working hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm (full-time 40 hours per week.) Hours may vary depending upon department/City needs and adjustments are made to the schedule to accommodate these demands when necessary. The employee may be asked to work occasional evenings weekends, and holiday hours and subject to emergency call outs may occur.
