Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director of the Center for
Excellence in Teaching & Learning, the Faculty Development Online Education Coordinator will be responsible for faculty development and
policy work in support of the strategic planning, development, and management of the university’s online academic offerings. The candidate
will work closely with academic leadership, academic programs and faculty, and staff to ensure the highest quality of online courses and
programs. The Coordinator will collaborate with various stakeholders to promote online offerings and support the university’s mission and
goals.

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a
related field preferred and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in teaching online, including experience in a leadership role is
required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

• Demonstrated success in the design, development, and management of online courses and
  programs and in collaborating with faculty and staff across departments
• Demonstrated understanding of effective pedagogical
  strategies for online education
• Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous quality improvement
• Familiarity
  with learning management systems, instructional design tools, and other technologies used in online education
• Experience with
  standards-based certification (such as Quality Matters)
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Strong
  leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to manage complex projects, including budgets, personnel, and other resources,
  reporting, strategic planning, and problem-solving

Programmatic Collaboration:

• Works collaboratively with faculty who are developing online and hybrid
  courses and provides recommendations on teaching strategies, including universal design, accessibility, and evaluation to improve student
  learning experiences
• Works collaboratively with faculty to provide recommendations and resources, including case studies and
  exemplars, regarding the best uses of instructional technology for teaching and learning, regardless of instructional modality
• Works collaboratively with faculty and with the College’s instructional technologist team to identify and evaluate promising

Operations:

• Provides expertise to faculty and academic program leadership to support the evaluation of online and hybrid
  courses
• Develops, manages, and oversees certification via Quality Matters for the College’s online offerings
• Acts as a
  liaison with academic and administrative units at the College (i.e. Academic Affairs, administrative and academic units, and
  appropriate faculty committees) to define and develop policies, procedures and adequate support for efficient operation of online education
  efforts at the College of Charleston
• Understands and complies with university policies and procedures and complies with all
  applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements related to online education, working collaboratively with the Associate Provost
  for Academic and International Programs

Activity

Faculty Development and Communications:

• Coordinates with the directors of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT)
  to schedule regular faculty development opportunities in support of Online Education
• Serves as a member of the Advisory Committee
  to CETL and TLT
• Acts as point of contact for all OE-related questions, and proactively communicates related information and
  announcements to the campus

Administrative and Budget Management:

• Provides comprehensive
  administrative support in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and to the Director of the Center, including essential support
  for faculty development programming, managing the director’s calendar, holding the primary purchasing card for the CETL index, and
  responsibility for CETL website and calendar. Provides critical support for CETL’s monthly newsletter. Serves as a campus representative of
  CETL, answering questions and monitoring CETL’s email account. Opportunity to lead specific faculty development offerings or CETL projects,
  as assigned.
• Develops and manages the budget for online education initiatives
