Installation, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry. The employee will report to the designated supervisor and must accept supervision from other electricians.
Responsibilities:
The Electrician’s Helper will assist electricians in the performance of their jobs, and will work under the direct supervision of an electrician actually installing the work and handling the bulk of materials. The helper is expected to:
1. Know names and uses of small tools.
2. Keep tools organized in proper places and cases.
3. Anticipate the tool and equipment needs of electricians.
4. Be responsible for security of materials and tools.
5. Keep work area clean during and at the end of each workday.
6. Assist in wire pulls.
7. Mount and strap conduits, boxes, wires, etc.
8. Understand and abide by safety requirements at all times.
By the end of the first year, the electrician’s helper will demonstrate competency in the following:
1. Names and uses of all electrical tools and materials.
2. Conduit bending and installation.
3. Quality installation of trim‑out.
4. Wire pulling procedures.
5. Wall rough‑in.
6. Termination of junction boxes.
7. Fixture connections and rough‑in.
8. Underground rough‑in methods.
Working Conditions:
The helper must:
1. Work both inside and outside, whichever job requires; work in all elements, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, no matter what time of year.
2. Be able to use construction site sanitary facilities, e.g. Porta‑Johns.
3. Have required personal tools readily accessible at all times (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs.).
4. Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14′, “A” frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and carry and relocate up to a 12′ step ladder by oneself.
5. Ensure that combined weight of person and tools does not exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1 ‑ 250 lbs., Class 1A ‑ 300 lbs.).
6. Perform work at various heights (up to 90′ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, or other safe work areas).
7. Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics).
8. Wear necessary personal protective equipment (hard hat and safety glasses at all times; respirator when required).
9. Be able to use arms, hands, and fingers repetitively.
10. Be prepared to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime and night shifts as required.
11. Must not work on energized circuits or equipment.

1. Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach over-head.
2. Lift 75 pounds.
3. Constantly move on one’s feet.
4. Climb ladders (all types).
5. Complete overhead work for full day assignments.
6. Make the transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.
7. Possess good vision, either normal or corrected.
8. Be responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
Position Requirements:
· Licenses:
Current and clean Driver’s License and own transportation (most job sites are not always served by public transportation); no electrical license required.
· Education:
High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent training
· Training Classes:
Must attend company sponsored twice monthly Thursday training classes.
· OSHA Training:
Must complete 30 hour OSHA training class or present certificate if previously completed
· Cell Phone:
Must have own cell phone for communication with other electricians and office staff
· Conduct/Comportment:
Drug-free; neat and clean appearance; professional and courteous bearing towards all.
· Tools:
Must provide own hand tools and tool belt
