Job Description
International chemical/plastic/pharmaceutical trading company is currently seeking an experienced Domestic & International Logistics Manager for its midtown Manhattan office.
The Domestic & International Logistics Manager heads department activities, handling the processes involved in a supply chain, liaising with a variety of parties including suppliers, customers, manufacturers, transportation suppliers and governmental regulators, working closely with product managers, accounting and information technology. The hands on Manager is responsible for day-to-day operational compliance with all import and export laws and regulations. Working with the legal, treasury and accounting departments, the hands on Manager develops, maintains, and conducts a robust international trade compliance training program for logistics personnel.
This is position reports to the VP, Finance and Administration.
Primary Responsibilities:
– Coordinate and control the order cycle and associated storage and movement of goods from suppliers to customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
– Establish transportation requirements and implement and maintain a transportation management system.
– Ensure appropriate information, reports, and compliance documentation are provided to meet requirements.
– Negotiate contracts with bulk tank storage facilities, shipping and customs brokers, transportation carriers, truck and rail, warehouses, and freight forwarders.
– Review and approve charter party terms.
– Ensure that contracted warehouses and storage terminals meet appropriate standards and security requirements.
– Review purchase and sale contract terms relating to international bulk shipments.
– Prepare and submit marine cargo insurance claims.
– Ensure that contracted warehouses and storage terminals meet appropriate standards and security requirements.
– Control, regulate and maintain efficient levels of inventory
– Manage domestic and international logistics staff.
– Together with the Legal, Treasury and Accounting Departments, perform customer/carrier/supplier due diligence.
Other Responsibilities:
– Work with IT to track stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs.
– Analyze data to monitor performance and plan improvements in transportation costs
– Perform other work-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and VP, Finance and Administration
– Handle questions from overseas logistics personnel.
Required Qualifications: Minimum ten years’ experience in transportation management in the commodity chemicals industry. Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics management or related field.
Required Skills: Experience and familiarity with charter parties, letters of credit, marine cargo insurance, demurrage, surveying. Excellent supervisory and management skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate and train subordinates. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Pay: $72,000.00 – $102,000.00 per year
