This position is responsible for the daily and monthly activities related to CIRMA’s self-insured members (“SIS”). This also includes the collection of information to support all funding requirements, bank reconciliations and data necessary to produce financial reports for the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency (CIRMA), in accordance with accepted accounting procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Preparation of bank reconciliations for CIRMA. Research and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
· Conducts CIRMA treasury related activities including but not limited to posting of deposit activities, research of check status, initiation of stop payments and investigations of usual activies concerning the bank reconciliations.
· Preparation of supporting work papers, reconciliation and billings supporting CIRMA third party Heart and Hypertension claims and self-insured member services claim administration fees.
· Preparation of annual escheat filings of uncashed checks in compliance with statutory requirements for CIRMA and SIS.
· Preparation and reconciliation of activity to support the automated function of members’ equity distribution process.
· Responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for CIRMA.
· Preparation and reconciliation of monthly investment activities.
· Completion and submission of statutory reports in compliance with the State of Connecticut Insurance department statutes and administrative requirements.
Skills Required:
· Advanced MS Excel skills
· Experience/knowledge of the principles and practices of general ledger accounting in an insurance environment.
· Strong mathematical skills.
· IT literate with the ability to use new technologies to improve efficiency
· Ability to analyze processes and suggest efficiencies
Experience Required
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
· 2 or more years of related work experience (insurance industry preferred)
· Additional years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of college degree
