Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Human Resources and working with various managers, departments and field employee, the Senior Human Resources Business Partner- OC / HR Operations Specialist position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in Corovan. This position serves as a consultant to managers on human resource-related issues as well as an employee champion and coach. The Senior Human Resources Business Partner assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, communicating these needs proactively with managers and internal HR colleagues, and implements company policies and programs.
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner is also in charge of identifying future hiring needs, conducts some recruiting, and may be responsible for some sourcing, screening of candidates and collaborating cross-functionally to build and refine internal partnerships.
The HR Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring operations excellence in HR processes and implementations. The HR Operations Specialist works for the Executive VP of HR, overseeing the annual HR Calendar, and coordinating job descriptions, timelines, and programs.
The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, builds implementation plans, communications vehicles, and monitors implementation success. This person would have significant HR experience and would understand the areas of benefits, communications, compensation, and employee relations. They would also have had multiple experiences being HRIS implementation and would be involved and familiar with HRIS systems.
This HRBP would travel to the Los Angeles and San Diego branches on a regular basis to meet with employees and/or Managers. Occasional travel to other California locations for training and statewide team meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Senior Human Resources Business Partner:
Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations to local business team.
Learns the business plans and growth strategies.
Meets regularly with employees, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to the managers to plan corrective action and continuous improvement of management practices. Builds rapport with employees so they can bring forth issues and concerns and get answers to their questions.
Responds to employee relations issues such as policy violations, employee complaints, harassment allegations, conducting investigations and partnering with HR Leader to decide best course of action. Skilled in writing situation review with recommendations.
Provide coaching to managers on Performance Management, including reviewing performance reviews and career development plans.
Facilitates or provides training to managers and employees.
Coordinates employee recognition programs.
Works with managers to create and update job descriptions.
Builds solid relationships with internal team members and stakeholders.
Manages benefit rollout for appropriate departments.
Complies with all governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements and advises managers of California and Federal laws.
Partners with Operations Team to meet and train employees at customer sites throughout Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
HR Operations
Stays current on California and Federal laws re: job posting, employment law, offers, promotions, ADA, and leave situations, and makes sure all policies are implemented in accordance with all new laws. Also ensures that the HRIS system is configured with all legal requirements in mind.
Coach managers on company policies and on approaches to effectively increase employee engagement.
Revises transitions, such as new hire packets or procedures, to stay in compliance with the law and be as user friendly as possible for candidates and new hires.
Manages annual background requests, and annual clearances.
Works closely with corporate HR and management team to ensure effective completion of security clearances.
Becomes proficient at managing HR transactions through HRIS portal and teaches managers and employees on how to do the same.
g. Update monthly department SMART OKR goals in Viva. Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality utilizing Six Sigma methodology.
Recruiting: (Secondary role, as needed, to support recruiters)
Drives and manages the full-cycle recruitment process for Corovan, especially In Fullerton and Los Angeles area, in alignment to business needs.
Identifies creative ways to attract candidates to open positions.
Works with hiring managers to understand job requirements.
Reviews applications to match qualifications and experience with specific job-related requirements.
Reviews candidates with hiring manager and provides insight about candidate’s profile, market information, etc.
Competent in entering candidate data into Candidate Tracking System (HRIS).
Training/Communication with managers and employees:
Facilitates and/or provides trainings to employees and managers including new policies and procedures and new hire orientations.
Teams with Management to deliver training meetings on subjects relevant to employee engagement and HR.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree or pursuing degree with equivalent education and experience.
5-7 years of experience in a similar Human Resource Business Partner role, previous Transportation & Warehouse industry preferred.
Experience handling investigations and terminations.
Strong PC skills required. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
Experience updating employee information within an HRIS, Ultipro HRIS preferred.
Must have excellent organization skills, attention to details, and the ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
Ability to work effectively with others, partner well.
Project Management and tracking skills and HRIS skills.
A valid state driver’s license and meet the requirements of the Driving Policy on Use of Employee’s Personal Vehicle for Company Business Policy.
Experience implementing HR policies in California for hourly workforce.
PRIMARY LOCATION:
Fullerton, California and Corona, California (new office to be opened later this year).
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Travel to locations to handle employee relations and training. Approximately 35% travel required. About 25% of travel between Corona, Fullerton, Los Angeles and Poway. About 10% occasional travel to Northern California and/or Customer Sites.
