The Health and Human Services Agency has over 600 employees dedicated to enhancing and enriching the lives of those in their communities.
COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION
The Health and Human Services Agency’s Community Services Division is responsible for the administration of older adult programs for El Dorado County residents 60 years of age and older. These services include: Senior Nutrition, Senior Shuttle, Older Adult Day Services, Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and many more! In addition to the services to seniors, Community Services also administers Veteran Affairs, Animal Services, Public Housing Authority, HEAP & Weatherization programs.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program aimed to assist low-income households that pay a high portion of their income to meet their energy needs. LIHEAP is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Community Services.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Program Assistant is a support position that works under the direction of a Program Coordinator or other professional or management staff member and provides generalized support and services for a variety of program areas.

Ideal Candidate Statement
The ideal c andidate for this vacancy will have exceptional customer service skills, experience working at a fast-paced front counter serving low-income and senior households and display initiative in carrying out assignments. Experience interviewing clients, determining program eligibility and working with difficult customers as well as being a team player and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations.
Education And Experience
Equivalent to possession of an Associate of Arts degree with major coursework in social services, psychology or a related field,
and
One (1) year of experience in eligibility determination, counseling or intervention or in office support work which has included interpreting and explaining complex rules and regulations. Relevant experience may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
