Job Description

The Controller is an integral part of the company’s leadership team who is responsible to provide accurate financials, statistical data, and cost standards in order for management to make timely and informed decisions concerning the financial performance of the business. The Controller evaluates changes and their impact on the business; recommends and implements changes as necessary; performs financial and operational analysis in order to provide metrics that assist management in driving cost improvement with-in their functional areas. The Controller builds strong cross-functional partnerships internally and externally to advance the goals and objectives of the business.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Analyzes the performance of the plants in order to provide metrics to leadership along with cost management initiatives to improve overall performance of the business.
• Publication of accurate and timely weekly and monthly operations reports as well as monthly analysis of plant financial performance with commentary on areas of plant costs, labor counts and overtime, inventory levels, and analysis of major variances.Establishes and maintains all account reconciliations.
• Collaborate with department managers to develop and comply with business operating expense levels.
• Develop & maintain product cost as needed.
• Prepares the internal and external financial statements that include income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
• Conducts internal audits when requested.
• Leads and monitors the AP and AR process.
• Leads and monitors the payroll process in order to assure that it is accurate and timely.
• Perform & develop IQMS reports that provide data to the Leadership that will assist them with the operation and improvement of their functional areas.
• Develop, document, and provide financial information needed for the overall management of the business.
• Prepare annual budgets & completes monthly forecasts for regular reporting.
• Responsible for the business month end closing process along with accounting reconciliations.
• Participate in physical inventory audits.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting along with 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in finance/accounting.
• Ability to prepare, review and interpret financial statements.
• Ability to work independently, as well as in coordination with various departments and staff across all levels of the company.
• Computer literate with proficiency in word and spreadsheet applications including the ability to design and use complex spreadsheet formulas and advanced functions.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and procedures including knowledge of financial statements, financial reporting and analysis, and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks accomplished independently and with assigned staff, while successfully managing changing deadlines.
• Proficient analytical and mathematical skills.
• Understanding and experience in standard cost accounting
• Self-starter, dependable, adaptable, and requires minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with presentation, leadership and team building skills.

Language Skills

Ability to write reports and business correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups of associates, management representatives, suppliers and customers. Ability to utilize MS Office applications and e-mail systems in the day-to-day functions of the job.

Reasoning Ability:

Requires analytical and problem solving knowledge, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Work will typically be from eight to ten hours per day, five days a week, with occasional travel, by car or commercial aircraft, for external meetings with customers.
