CVS Health Hiring for Employee & Labor Relations Senior Manager at New Jersey Full Time

As a Senior Manager on CVSHealth’s Employee & Labor Relations Team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Employee Relations Advisors who support the Retail Business Unit by providing expert consultation and guidance to CVSHealth leaders and employees on the application of CVSHealth’s policies and the Code of Conduct. This team of Advisors responds to a high volume of routine requests from leaders and employees to review matters concerning employment and the application of employment practices and policies. Additionally, as a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for handling the resolution of sensitive and/or escalated Employee and Labor Relations matters assigned to your team.

You will support the development and execution of Employee & Labor Relations processes and practices and help develop strategies and interventions to support the evolution of Employee and Labor Relations. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this role will provide oversight, guidance/mentoring to Employee Relations Advisors, own relationships with designated functional partners (e.g., Legal, Labor Relations, Compliance, Security, HRBP’s, and business leaders) and deliver applicable reporting to identify trends and recommend appropriate solutions for the Retail Business Unit.

Management Responsibilities:
You will direct a team of ten (10) or more people and are responsible for providing direct reports with timely, candid, and constructive feedback; developing employees to their full potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for their accomplishments and coaching team members on performance and quality. You will spend time with your direct reports on a weekly basis to spot check their work, review case outcomes, balance caseloads, and provide support and feedback on performance. You will also manage the hiring, performance coaching, and separation process for your direct reports.

Responsibilities:
1. Advise, Consult and Coach

• Manage and respond to escalated inquires (via phone and/or email) from leaders and employees regarding matters involving employment practices, policies, employment laws and compliance guidelines.
• Coach team members through the completion case reviews, case calibrations, and providing ongoing performance coaching
• Serve as a subject matter expert providing advice, guidance and recommendations to managers/supervisors, employees and HRBPs on various employee relations issues, HR/workplace policy interpretation and inquiries related to issues such as conduct, capability (performance and time/attendance), discipline, termination, employee complaints, and compliance issues; ensure timely resolution of case and appropriate action is taken as necessary.
• Work in collaboration with other HR COEs, managers, and employees, provide relevant employee and labor relations expertise in the execution of any initiatives or projects which you are assigned.
• Work with Employee Relations peers to ensure consistency of advice and guidance provided across the enterprise and with the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism, and sensitivity.
• Champion and promote positive and proactive employee relations, providing appropriate guidance and support to ensure that employee relations processes are delivered to maximize the CVSHealth employee experience.
• Engage with appropriate internal or external subject matter experts to obtain legal advice, guidance on best practices, revise policies, and collaborate to address cross-enterprise issues.
• Provide oversight of Employee Relations Advisors’ support to the Retail Business Unit through routine reviews of employee relations processes and practices, while leveraging analytics and insights demonstrating innovative and strategic thought to enhance established ways of working.

2. Employee and Labor Relations Process Delivery

• Provides leadership and guidance to advisors tasked with the handling and resolution of grievances and concerns raised by employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
• Under the guidance of Legal and the Labor Relations team, assist and support CBA interpretation and contract administration; ensure timely responses in the handling of grievances and issuance of corrective action as stipulated in the CBA.
• Partner and collaborate with the Labor Relations team to support and facilitate the Retail Business Unit’s engagement and interaction with labor unions.
• As needed, provide coaching and serve as the HR representative to managers and employees in any formal grievance/arbitration processes (i.e., disciplinary, performance, time/attendance, absence, etc.).
• Provide templates, coaching and guidance, and advice to leaders in the delivery of high quality, robust and consistent workplace processes, and outcomes.
• Ensures Employee and Labor Relations cases are closed with the provision of appropriate recommendations, application of consistent resolutions based upon past practice, and completion of all required action items.
• Manage the employment termination process to ensure separations are completed in a compliant, professional, and efficient manner.
• Partner with Compliance to conduct periodic case reviews; collaborate with peers to audit cases and implement best practices.
• As a member of the Employee and Labor Relations leadership team, partner with the HR Compliance and Compliance teams to explore opportunities to standardize processes, practices, and policies as appropriate.

3. Reporting, Monitoring, and Solutions

• Manage, complete, and maintain appropriate logs/trackers/systems, to ensure a full picture of Employee and Labor Relations activity – informal and formal processes, advice given, outcomes issues, inquiries, etc.
• Manage and provide appropriate data and reports, monitor business area climate, and identify any patterns or trends in Employee and Labor Relations activity to propose solutions to address.
• Utilize a range of other data sources (annual survey results, exit interviews, employee social media postings, etc.) to assess the business area employee relations climate, identify any opportunities for proactive intervention, and to make recommendations for making improvements.
• Lead projects as appropriate, in the proactive enhancement of the Employee and Labor Relations processes, as part of broader HR or business-driven priorities; recommend improvements to internal process as necessary.

4. Proactive Training & Education

• Facilitate and oversee the onboarding of new Advisors
• Identify and provide training opportunities for the continued development of direct reports. In collaboration with the Employee Relations team, participates in the development of proactive Employee relations skills among business leaders through the development and delivery of appropriate training and education in partnership with functional partners such as HRBPs and Legal (e.g., leadership roadshows, job aids, manager resources, training courses, leader “How to”, hosting Q&A sessions, etc.)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 75,400

Maximum: 162,700

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications

• Experience managing direct reports.
• 6+ years of employee relations and labor relations experience including, but not limited to the following:
• Direct experience managing, advising, and resolving, employee relations cases (e.g., performance management, attendance, employee misconduct, employee complaints, discipline and termination).
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and utilizing employee relations case management systems (i.e., Salesforce)
• Direct experience interacting with labor unions and advising on labor relations matters (i.e., management and disposition of grievances, participation in labor arbitrations and collective bargaining).
• Proven analytical skills and ability to assist and advise on the development of employee/labor relations trends and insights reporting for the Retail Business Unit.
• Knowledge of current state and federal employment/labor laws and regulations.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
