Designs and develops electronic data processing systems and procedures for functionally distinct activities of an organization where a variety of problems and processes, some of which are complex, are involved; analyzes and evaluates operating methods and practices relative to the information needs of specific programs and activities; develops plans for the implementation of recommended systems and procedures; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancy:
There is one vacancy with the Department of Information Technology, Applications Division. Under the supervision of the Data Base Administrator (Data Processing Analyst III or IV), this position performs a variety of data base related systems development tasks including the analysis of user requirements and systems design, modification, implementation, and maintenance. Works with the senior analyst to ensure that the application and system data bases and related files are operating efficiently and to provide the necessary service to all who access the City’s data bases. Also assists the senior analyst to provide the technical recommendations, assistance and support to other divisions within the department.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two years of experience in the analysis of operating practices, methods and procedures, one of which shall have involved the conduct of feasibility studies and the analysis and design of systems for the electronic processing of data AND six months of the two years of experience described above must have been in the applicable specialty area of database management.
