This position is located in the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Executive Office of the Chief of Police. The incumbent serves as a key advisor and strategic partner to the Chief of Police, assisting in the overall management and administration of the Executive Office of the Chief of Police.
The Incumbent Will Be Responsible For The Following
Licensures, Certifications And Other Requirements
Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
Education
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant Master’s degree (i.e., Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Management, or a related field) is preferred.
Work Experience
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the MS-15 grade level in the District of Columbia government services, or its non-District equivalent, gained from public or private sector. Specialized experiences for this position include, but not limited to: providing operational advice and consultation for department-wide activities to high-level officials; directing operations and staff of law enforcement, security, and/or related programs; developing sustainable relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to drive engagement or influence decision making; ability to lead others; supervising managerial employees, or other similar major duties.
Work Environment
Work location is in an office environment. Work is sedentary and may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site and carrying light items, such as laptops, papers, books, small parts, and driving an automobile.
Other Significant Factors
This position operates within the confines of a 24/7 operation. Incumbent of this position is required to provide after-hours on call technical support including weekends and holidays. Incumbent may also be subjected to rotating shifts, weekend work and changes in days off.
This position is deemed as “security” sensitive pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations. Due to the position’s duties and responsibilities, security sensitive positions are positions of special trust that may reasonably be expected to affect the access to or control of activities, systems, or resources that are subject to misappropriation, malicious mischief, damage, or loss or impairment of control of communication.

This position is “At Will”. At will employment applies to the Management Supervisory Service (MSS). All positions and appointments in the MSS serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause. This position is not in a collective bargaining unit.
