Job Overview:
Deaconess Cross Pointe provides mental health services to meet the emotional and behavioral health care needs of children, teens, adults and their families. With 30 Pediatric and Adolescent beds and two Adult units, consisting of South Exempt (16-beds) and North Hall (14-beds), Deaconess Cross Pointe provides inpatient crisis stabilization with an emphasis on group, family, educational and activity therapies. The Care Team Members, nurses (RN’s), Mental Health Technicians (MHT’s) and social workers (MSW’s), coordinate care with psychiatrists. The outpatient and partial hospitalization services also offer quality care to the community.
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides patient care activities and related services as directed by a registered nurse or other professional caregivers. The Mental Health Technician must be able to demonstrate growth and development knowledge and skills to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served and support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu to ensure the safety and well-being of patients with psychiatric, addictive, and emotional disorders. The MHT is a member of the multidisciplinary team, under the direction of the RN, that provides or assists with basic patient care requirements, treatments and procedures. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort. The MHT assists professional staff with basic life support principles.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One of the following required:
- Minimum of 4 semesters (12 credit hours) of college level psychology classes
- Equivalent number of years of direct work experience required
- Patient experience preferred
- Medical Terminology knowledge preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
