Job Summary:

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and administering Human Resources (HR) plans and initiatives that support the organizational aims and objectives of DKMS Africa. A key focus is the development and training of all employees. The HR manager also acts as liaison and advisor to the organization’s leadership and facilitates initiatives across the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead in the design and implementation of an effective and efficient HR function and develop HR plans and initiatives that support our organizational aims and objectives:
• Manage all aspects of the recruitment and selection process in close collaboration with our external service partner
• Develop, implement and maintain a professional induction program
• Implement and manage a robust Performance Management to ensure all staff receive regular feedback and opportunities to develop their skills
• Identify, support and organize trainings for staff to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the company. Identify external training partners and book training courses
• Design and develop HR training programs for management and employees
• Review evaluations of training courses, objectives and accomplishments
• Train employees on HR issues and practices. Presents course materials
• Manage employee relations issues such as grievance, disciplinary and dismissal in accordance with company policy and employment legislation
• Implement and maintain global HR processes, procedures and programs (e.g. Talent Management)
• Advise and train managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies
• Review, develop and advise on HR policies and procedures, ensuring these are effective for the business and reflect current legislation and best practice
• Support and advise managers on matters of policies, procedures, guidelines and employment legislation
• Consult with management on performance, organizational and leadership matters.
• Support managers in close collaboration with our external HR service partner during the budget planning process
• Take forward DKMS’ culture and values and support managers in embedding the unique culture in all organizational activities
• Work closely with the international HR colleagues
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
• Proven HR generalist experience and effective management skills
• Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations
• Ability to develop effective working relationships at all levels of the organization and a strong customer approach
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
• Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques
• Thorough understanding of dispute resolution and compensation administration
• Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong presentation skills
• Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
• Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
• Strong passion for the DKMS mission
• Willing to travel internationally

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in training and development or organizational development.
• Minimum of six years’ experience in Human Resources, with a solid working knowledge of HR Experience designing and implementing effective training and development programs.
• CPLP credential, preferred.
• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
