Exempt position. Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week plus evening and weekend
activities.
Extensive travel is required.
Basic Function
The Executive Director for Alumni
and Family Engagement (AFE) serves as the chief engagement officer of the college, is a vital member of the advancement team within
Institutional Advancement and serves on the divisional program director committee. The Executive Director will execute a new strategic plan
for alumni engagement as part of an integrated advancement model, which has become a key goal within the college’s newly adopted
comprehensive fundraising campaign. The Executive Director and their team, within the Office of Alumni & Family Engagement, will be
charged with building and coordinating an institution-wide approach to activating alumni, parents, and families to support the college, our
students, and one another. The Executive Director has the responsibility of leading, organizing, collaborating, and evaluating engagement
efforts across the college, with management responsibility for a team of 10. The Executive Director will report directly to the Associate
Vice President and Campaign Director.
The Executive Director will work to develop and implement a leading program to inspire the
involvement of our alumni. The results of this work will develop deeper connections with Denison, add value to the lives of our alumni, help
drive an increase in philanthropic investments, provide meaningful opportunities for service to the college and our alumni, and make full
use of the talents of our alumni through the development of a life-long engagement model.

Functions
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree
or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position as is at least eight years of applicable experience
in progressively responsible leadership positions within alumni relations, university advancement or nonprofit management.
Must have a current, valid driver’s license and must be insurable under Denison’s liability insurance policy.

Experience with volunteer and board management best practices.
Proven record of leadership,
management, and supervisory skills and experience in coaching high-performance teams.
Excellent planning and budgetary management
skills.
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively on a team, across organizational structures, and collaborate
with diverse populations.
Proven track record utilizing data points to support effective decision making on behalf of the
engagement programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Regular travel, frequent evening and weekend
work.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Understanding of basic marketing
principles.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of alumni engagement within a high performing team.
Previous work experience within a higher education environment.
Experience with RENXT and/or other Advancement technologies.
Physical Demands
Normal demands associated with general office work and frequent travel on behalf of the
University.
