GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to coordinate activities for senior adults and manage the daily operations at the specified congregate nutrition site. Performs related work as required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.
Greets each participant daily as they enter the site and promotes a friendly atmosphere and interaction between participants. Performs outreach in the community to enroll eligible senior citizens. When seniors are absence from site location, connects with site participant either by telephone or wellness visit.
Completes required daily paperwork for congregate nutrition site participants. Collects consumer contributions and document in accordance with the guidelines established. Completes client registration form on each participant, provides referrals as needed with additional senior services.
Site managers must be knowledgeable about site operations and record keeping requirements, community resources and referral procedures, food safety, and food portioning.
Recruits site volunteers and completes volunteer orientation registration at the site location to assist site manager with meals, recreation, and activities.
Submits requests for daily meal count at the congregate nutrition site. Checks temperature of food; sanitizes utensils for serving food; washes carriers and food containers. Maintains the nutrition site, bathroom, and any equipment in a clean and sanitary manner.
Makes sure all required information is current and posted on the bulletin board for seniors’ access at any given time.
Assist senior center agency staff with any off site special hosted events coordinated by the senior center. Attends quarterly staff meetings and training sessions scheduled by supervisor.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; supplemented six months previous experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina. In accordance with the county’s drug free workplace policy, employees will be subject to pre- employment and random drug screening.

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to compile, assemble, copy, record and/or transcribe data and/or information according to a prescribed schema or plan. Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures or routines.
Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards to specific situations.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to use, operate, and/or handle secretarial and cleaning supplies.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference data and information, such as nutrition service standards manuals and the site operation manual.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition and subtraction. Includes counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.
Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment required in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences.
ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Dexterity: Requires the ability to perform relatively unskilled simple movements.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The work performance of non-supervisory personnel of Duplin County is routinely evaluated according to the performance criteria outlined herein:
Knowledge of Work: Has working knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of Duplin County as such pertains to the performance of the essential duties of Site Manager. Has working knowledge of principles and practices of the congregate nutrition site guidelines. Has working knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Has working knowledge of the organization of the department, and of related departments and agencies. Clearly understands the occupational hazards and safety precautions required to perform the essential functions of the work. Has working knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertains to work responsibilities. Knows how to maintain cooperative and effective relationships with intra- and interdepartmental personnel, as well as any external entities with whom position interacts.
Quality of Work: Maintains high standards of accuracy in performing duties and responsibilities. Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility. Maintains quality communication and interaction with intra- and interdepartmental personnel, and any external entities with whom position interacts.
Quantity of Work: Performs described Essential Functions and related assignments efficiently and effectively in a manner to produce a quantity of work which consistently meets established standards and expectations.
Dependability: Assumes responsibility for completion of assigned functions. Completes assigned work within established deadlines in accordance with directives, policies, standards, and prescribed procedures. Maintains accountability for assigned responsibilities in the technical, human and conceptual areas.
Attendance: Attends and remains at work regularly and adheres to policies and procedures regarding absenteeism and tardiness. Provides sufficient notice to upper management with respect to vacation time and leave requests.
