Position Description
Edge Communications is seeking a System Administrator, a motivated individual who has experience supporting IP PBX and standard data networking applications. Successful candidates will be self-managed, highly organized, detail oriented, with abilities to multi-task in an enterprise IP PBX environment. The System Administrator continuously monitors the customer’s Edge Communication’s integrated voice and data applications appliance platform daily.
Primary Responsibilities
· Develop deep and thorough understanding of numerous enterprise voice & data applications and services.
· Provide effective level 1 and level 2 Voice and Data IP PBX technical support.
· Develop thorough understanding of each customer’s system components and configurations.
· Daily monitoring and surveillance of customer systems and proactively respond to service issues.
· Troubleshoot, diagnose, and remotely resolve customer-reported service issues.
· Respond to modification (moves, add, or changes) requests. Create the method of procedure documents to obtain customer pre-approvals.
· Escalate complex issues to the Systems Engineering team.
· Document troubleshooting steps and processes using an internal ticketing system. Identify trends to become more efficient on future requests.
· Maintain software/firmware versions and revision control of customer applications.
· Maintain the Customer Site Document (CSD) to document all moves, add, and changes to the physical and logical elements of a customer’s network.
· Create ad-hoc reports on customer traffic and usages.
· Perform after-hours technical support.
· Innovate by recommending new platform feature requests that would benefit the customer or the company.
· Provide training to all team members on specific areas of expertise.
· Creation of knowledge base documentation, including “how to” or “frequently asked questions” for internal use to support efficient process improvements.
· Additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience
· 1-3+ years of experience in a telecom customer-facing support and engineering environment.
· 1-3+ years troubleshooting, analysis, and remediation of typical small business/enterprise IP voice and data networks.
· 1-3+ years of experience on VoIP (SIP), WiFi, IP video, unified communications other small business/enterprise IP applications. Asterisk VoIP and other Open Source platforms.
· Working knowledge of standard enterprise networking protocols, standards, and hardware and systems (x86, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, DNS, NAT, firewalls, LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN, routing, switching).
· Experience with packet capturing tools and analysis such as wireshark.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
· Self-starter that exhibits a high level of attention to accurate detail.
· Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
· Ability to multitask and dynamically prioritize task with proven time management.
· Superior communications and relationship skills.
