Manager- People Service (Human Resources) – Pottsville, PA
This position has overall responsibility for People Services Business Partnership and Employee Relations for its designated business segment. Other areas of Human Resources may be assigned as on-going responsibilities or projects.
Expect to be involved in a variety of cross-functional projects, working collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Above all, you will have a direct hand in ensuring that Empire Education Group can effectively attract and retain talent by helping to maintain and enhance Empire’s culture.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Employee Relations. Under the general direction of the VP of People Services, works with management and Co-Workers to improve the Culture in our schools and at the Home Office.
Administrative Complaints and Legal Issues. Will work with VP of People Services to handle EEOC and State agency complaints, works with insurance agent and assigned counsel to respond to complaints, may attend mediations, hearings and conferences, as needed.
Human Resources Policies. Works with the rest of the Human Resources team and other departments to create and implement policies that support and promote Empire’s business, support Empire’s Culture, establish a foundation for positive employee relations, and promote a high level of morale and motivation.
Intra-Departmental Relationships. Develops strong working relationships with Executives, Management and Staff, providing advice, guidance, and coaching as needed.
Relationships with External Sources. Maintain an outstanding public relations status with federal, state and private employment agencies, colleges, Chambers of Commerce, MAEA, vendors, and business people in the community to source applicants and professional information.
Company Policies and Regulatory Agencies. Ensures compliance with all company policies and all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to: Department of Education, State Boards of Cosmetology, NACCAS, DOL, EEOC etc.
Additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
Additional Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong organizational skills and the proven ability to manage multiple projects at one-time.
Strong communication skills and exhibits the ability to interact with all levels of management and co-workers with enthusiasm, creativity, fairness and urgency.
Demonstrated relationship management is required
PC skills, including HRIS, Reporting, Excel, Word, Outlook will be fundamental to a person’s success
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
Master’s Degree in Human Resources or MBA degree preferred
Human Resources Certification/PHR/SPHR/GPHR Preferred
Experience:
Requires a BS degree
3 – 5 years experience in the Human Resources field
Generalist experience in support of multi-location organization.
Experience in the proprietary school, salon, or cosmetology industries a plus.
