JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction of the Station Lieutenant, the Firefighter/EMT is assigned tasks involving fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, hazardous materials incidents, fire prevention, and other special assignments as required.
SUPERVISION
RECEIVES direct supervision from the Fire Lieutenant.
EXERCISES no supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to complete physical agility assessment within minimum standards.

Health / Medical
The City offers three health insurance plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield. The City pays 100% of
the employee only premium of the EPO-HSA Plan.
The City will contribute $50 to the employee’s HSA plan and will match employee contribution up to
$25 per month.
Dental / Vision
The City offers dental insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield. The City pays 100% of the employee
only premium.
Vision insurance is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield, and covers routine eye exams and other
procedures. This cost is covered by the employee.
Long Term Disability
The City pays for long term disability through Dearborn which covers 60% of an employee’s monthly
earnings up to $7,500 maximum per month.
Life Insurance/AD&D
The City pays 1x the employee’s salary or a minimum of $50,000 in Life Insurance coverage for all
employees. Additional coverage is available at the employee’s cost.
Retirement – TMRS
The City is a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System (“TMRS”). Employees contribute 7% of
their gross income on a pre-tax basis.
The City matches 2-1. Employees are vested after 5 years of employment. Employees are eligible to
retire with 5 years of service at age 60 or with 25 years of service at any age.
