UPDATED: New 48/96 shift schedule began 1/1/2023
Performs fire suppression activities including search and rescue, ventilation, forcible entry, and salvage/overhaul. Responds to motor vehicle accidents and performs vehicle extrication and hazardous material control as needed. Provides emergency and non-emergency medical services as appropriate to EMT license level. Drives and operates fire district apparatus in a safe and efficient manner. Participates in fire prevention, public education activities and training as required. These are illustrative of the job and do not include all job requirements.
The firefighter/paramedic works under the direct supervision of the Shift Captain and is assigned to an apparatus on a daily basis. Firefighter/Paramedics work a 48/96 schedule and rotate apparatus assignments, from engine company, to primary medic unit to secondary medic unit. Keizer Fire District is an ALS transporting agency. Keizer Fire District ran 6469 calls in 2022.
Keizer Fire District is currently recruiting to establish an eligibility list for firefighter/paramedic. We anticipate that there will be at least one vacancy over the next several months.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Oregon Driver License, or out of state license with ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver License within 90 days
Oregon Paramedic License, or ability to obtain reciprocity within 90 days
NFPA Firefighter I
NFPA Driver, EVOC or equivalent
Paramedic program students will be allowed to apply upon receipt of verifiable proof that they are enrolled in a paramedic program. Candidate must be a licensed Paramedic by the time of hire.

Annual Salary – $77,035 to $95,910
