Residential Education Hall Coordinator (REHC) for our Boca Raton campus and an REHC for our Jupiter campus. Please specify which position you prefer in your cover letter.The Residential Education Hall Coordinator
will work closely with a variety of housing, student affairs, university staff and faculty in developing strategies and programs that foster
growth and contribute to the student’s success at Florida Atlantic University. In addition, the Residential Education Hall Coordinator
is responsible for numerous administrative aspects in the operation of the area they supervise. The Residential Education Hall Coordinator
may be assigned to special projects during the summer months (ie. conferences, orientation, staff training).Summary of
Responsibilities Include:Residential Education
- Oversee implementation of strategies that enable student achievement of
the goals of the Residential Curriculum: ENGAGE (in FAU and Residential community), EXPLORE (Self and Ideas); DEVELOP (Cultural Competence);
STRENGTHEN (Academic Success). The residential education model is the foundation for all that we do in Residential Life.- Meet
individually with students to provide personal, social, academic, and co-curricular support that enhances student persistence.- Provide leadership, guidance and support to staff, students, and student groups by guiding their efforts to develop communities,
increase their social awareness and sense of responsibility.- Assume a leadership role in the building community in promoting action
and advocacy for social justice and inclusivity.- Collaborate with faculty and staff stakeholders to implement programmatic
opportunities in the residence halls.- Utilize institutional data to assess and respond to student needs.
- Implement
academic outreach within the residence halls using the university Starfish Student Success network system.- Night and weekend
commitments in regards to programs, events, etc.Staff Supervision and Leadership
- Provide ongoing training,
supervision, and regular development of 10-20 Paraprofessional staff (RAs).- Assess skills and development of the RA’s while
providing experiences, opportunities, and training, which challenge and support their development.- In conjunction with Assistant
Director, create a Performance Program, conduct yearly appraisal process.- Advisor of Community Council.
- Conducting weekly
1:1s with the president.- Attending all meetings and programs.
- Serve as a role model for all hall staff and residents in
personal and professional behaviors.- Implement the departmental performance improvement process.
- Advise students
informally on personal, social, and academic problems, and when necessary, makes appropriate referrals.- Mediate a range of student
conflicts including roommate agreements and concerns.- Actively develop an environment, through dialogue and other educational
means, that encourages and fosters inclusive communities.- Participate in the development and implementation of residentially based
learning communities assigned to their building or complete.- Staff will be held accountable for their implementation of the
Residential Education Model. Will assess based owl central tracking of program and survey. This will occur monthly.- Residential
Education Coordinators will be formally evaluated each semester by their supervisor.- Resident Education Coordinators will be
formally evaluating RA’s each semester.Emergency/Crisis Intervention and Response
- Participate in the
rotating “on-call” system for the residential campus, responding to emergencies on evenings and weekends. Provide
“on-call” duty coverage, on a rotating basis, during times when the University is closed (i.e., Fall Break, Holidays, Winter
Break, Spring Break, and summer).- Use departmental protocol to respond to crisis or emergency situations which includes providing
guidance to paraprofessional staff and students. Provide appropriate post-crisis referrals and follow-up with students and staff.- The Department of Housing and Residential Education’s residential facilities do not close. We serve our students and remain open
during all campus holidays and closures. Due to our 12- month operation, staff will work on-call hours during times when the university is
closed or when classes are not in session (ex. during Thanksgiving, Winter Break and Spring Break).- This position is considered an
essential employee. In the event of severe weather or emergency situations, the university may suspend classes or close the university. This
position would be expected to remain at or report to their facilities as soon as conditions reasonably permit.Administrative
- Report, track, and follow up on maintenance issues with appropriate maintenance and housekeeping staff.
- Participate in weekly meeting with Residential Education Operations Coordinator.
- Complete weekly community walkthroughs to with
residential facilities managers to gauge and follow up on community and facility needs.- Attend various departmental meetings on a
weekly/biweekly basis.- Prepare end of semester and end of year reports in December and May respectively.
- There is an
expectation of general availability during most business hours. Evening commitments such as staff meetings, community council and program
attendance are also expected.- Attend and participate in all professional staff training.
- Collaborate with other
departmental and university offices such as University Police, Counseling, Student Life, Housing Operations, Residential Facilities, and
Wellness Education Services as needed.- Communicate and collaborate with various internal departments (such as Business Services,
Facilities, Marketing, Assignments and Contracts to support all of Housing’s programs and services.- Prepare and monitor
program and administrative budgets.- Collaborate with Building Operations Manager and Desk Assistants in the management of the daily
building desk operations.- Supervise, lead, and manage Residential Education/Housing processes in building like Opening, Closing,
Damage Billing, Health and Safety Inspections, etc.- Serve as the building’s primary student conduct hearing officer to help
create a positive community environment in which students learn from their actions and assume responsibility for their actions.- Meet with students in violation of residence hall policies, adjudicate cases, and sanction students.
- Implement and interpret
housing policy to staff and students.Professional Development
- Take an active interest in identifying and
participating in their professional development.- Exhibit the ability to engage in in-depth self-reflection and apply what they
learned to their professional and personal lives.- Adhere to Association of College and University Officers-International (ACUHO-I),
National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and American College Personnel Administrators (ACPA) ethical
standards.- Present workshops and training sessions for staff and students.
- Serve on University, Divisional, and
Departmental Committees as requested.Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited
institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of
specialization and two years of appropriate experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success
in this position. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Must also have excellent
customer service, organizational and time management skills.COMPENSATION :
This position is
required to live on campus as a condition of employment. As this is a live-in position with a furnished apartment. Salary is $ 35,700
