Geico is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Manager of Research. As the Sr. Manager of Research, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience of our products and services through insightful research and data-driven insights. Reporting to the Senior Director of Design, you will lead a team of talented UX researchers, guiding their efforts to create exceptional user experiences that align with our business objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and Manage Research Team: Provide strategic leadership and guidance to a team of quantitative and qualitative researchers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Set clear goals, define research methodologies, and ensure the team’s work meets quality standards and timelines.
Team Building and Hiring: Build and grow a top-performing research team by attracting, recruiting, and retaining talented individuals. Collaborate with HR and the senior leadership team to develop hiring strategies, conduct interviews, and make informed hiring decisions. Foster a diverse and inclusive team culture that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.Research Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to develop a comprehensive research strategy aligned with business goals. Identify research opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and create roadmaps for executing research studies.Research Execution: Oversee and participate in all phases of the user research process, including user recruitment, study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Utilize various qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as usability testing, surveys, interviews, and competitive analysis, to gain deep insights into user needs and behaviors.Data Analysis and Insights: Analyze research data, identify patterns, and generate actionable insights that drive informed design decisions. Communicate research findings to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner through reports, presentations, and interactive workshops.Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to advocate for user-centered design principles. Act as a strategic partner, providing valuable insights and recommendations throughout the product development lifecycle.Research Methodology and Tools: Stay up to date with the latest research methodologies, tools, and industry trends. Continuously evaluate and improve research practices, ensuring the team is equipped with the right resources and techniques to deliver impactful results.Team Development and Mentoring: Foster the growth and development of the research team by providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and support individual career aspirations.Budget Management: Collaborate with Product Operations and other stakeholders to develop and manage the research budget effectively. Optimize resource allocation to ensure research activities are conducted efficiently and within allocated budgets.Confident and Empathetic Leadership: Lead by example, exhibiting confidence and empathy in your interactions with team members and stakeholders. Create a supportive and inclusive environment where team members feel valued, motivated, and empowered to contribute their best.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree or certification + 4 years of experienceProven experience (6+ years) in research, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.Strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including usability testing, surveys, interviews, and ethnographic research.Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools, such as PowerBI, or Tableau.Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive user-centric design decisions.
