GEODIS Logistics LLC Hiring for Datacenter Engineer Job at Dallas, TX Full Time

The Datacenter Engineer is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, providing improvements and documentation to data center facilities and equipment for GEODIS.

Primary Duties:

• Assists the datacenter manager with technology planning and design
• Works tickets that have been assigned to the Data Center queue, such as racking and un-racking servers, running fiber cables per cabling standards, and assisting in troubleshooting issues
• Documents and maintains DR Processes for data centers and warehouse sites
• Tracks shipments incoming and outgoing from PDC & FDC
• Performs quarterly audits on physical assets in the datacenter, identifying physical servers, switches, age of the serves, manufacturer warranties, extended warranties on servers (including WCS servers at warehouse sites), etc.
• Assists in Network Cable Installations/troubleshooting; Maintains accurate records of cable matrix (physical cable mapping)
• Keeps up-to-date inventory of power cords, SFPs, network cables, etc.; Updates Data Center Inventory Database (DCIM)
• Performs Amber Alert audits for faulty components in servers, which could be a failed hard drive or a power supply that needs to be replaced
• Contacts technical personnel as required by critical outage procedures; Follows guidelines established for the contacting of technical/critical personnel
• Coordinates maintenance activities for data center equipment (HVAC’s, UPS’s, generators) with outside organizations
• Maintains monitoring systems, such as SolarWinds NPM and APM.
• Adheres to all security procedures
• Transports and installs heavy equipment in datacenter racks in compliance with OHL safety procedures
• Travels regularly between datacenters
• Other duties as required and assigned by supervisor

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a 4 year college or university preferred
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in large 24×7 computing environments
• Experience with SolarWinds or other monitoring tools preferred
• Knowledge and experience with technologies, such as: TCP/IP networks, SAN and NAS storage, Intel Server hardware, Microsoft Windows Server, RedHat Enterprise LINUX, Virtualization technologies, electrical power distribution, and heating and cooling
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Visio, Excel, and Outlook
• Knowledge of third-party logistics, transportation systems, and/or warehouse management systems preferred
