The Ark Preschool, a ministry of the Glen Ellyn Evangelical Church is searching for a part-time afternoon Pre K Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.

Job Title: Classroom Teacher

Length of Job: 9 months; September – May

Work Schedule: 12:00-3:30 Tuesday through Friday

Reports to: Director & Assistant Director

General Description:

The Classroom Teacher is responsible for the preparation and delivery of all classroom instruction. Guard and grow the spiritual, cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth of all of the children in their care.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

• BA/BS or greater in Education, or a related field and/or coursework equivalent to “Teacher Qualified” status according to DCFS and the State of Illinois.
• Experience teaching young children preferred. Experience working with young children required.
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Must be an actively practicing Christian.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

• Become familiar with the Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers.
• Responsible for the supervision and safety of all children in their care. Serve as a Mandated Reporter per DCFS Licensing Standards.
• Responsible for the preparation and delivery of all classroom curriculum & instruction.
• Keep track of supplies related to classroom operation and relay needs in written form to Director. All purchases need to be approved in advance.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of classroom, toys, books, furniture and supplies, including checking to be sure they are in good repair. Report all needs to Director.
• Attend all necessary training to maintain appropriate in-service hours and record training in the appropriate file.
• Aim is to teach Christian principles for everyday living – self worth, trust, responsibility and cooperation – as well as to stimulate an interest in learning about our world and preparing the children for success in their future academic life.
• Maintain constant, positive communication with parents creating weekly newsletters

Other General Expectations:

• Clothing should be comfortable and casual but clean and modest.
• Communication with co-workers should be kind and respectful. Conflicts should be resolved quickly.
• A high ethical level should be maintained in all dealings with children, parents, staff and Church staff and in personal, public behaviors.
• Staff will attend all special events for The Ark Preschool.
