Position Title: Director of Human Resources

Salary and Benefits: $92,886.00 Competitive Package – Commensurate with education and experience plus health, dental, vision, and life insurance

Start Date: July 1, 2022

Summary:

The primary responsibility is to work as part of the district leadership team focused on the mission and goals of the district and to provide vision and leadership for all aspects of the District’s Human Resources Department.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Administration, or related fields required. Human Resources certification preferred.

• Successful administrative and leadership experience in the areas of Human Resources and/or Labor Relations is preferred

• Human Resource Specialist Certification (HRS) through Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) or equivalent __ or willing to get HRS promptly.

• Extensive experience and knowledge relating to Human Resources

• Ability to work effectively with various employee groups

• Strong Interpersonal skills

• Outstanding communication skills

• Understanding of technology and its application in schools for staff

• Expertise regarding collective bargaining, labor contract management and interpretation, and Human Resources Administration/ Compliance

• Extensive experience in supervising and evaluating employees

• Have knowledge and understand the many facets of legislation at both state and national levels regarding employment law
• Demonstrated skills as a high energy, committed administrative leader

• Possess a high degree of honesty, integrity, and character

• Experience in the supervision of employees

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time. Ability to travel to school buildings, offices, various events, and other engagements. Ability to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal. Additionally physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.

Position Responsibilities:

• Responsible for recruiting, screening, and placing all administrative, instructional, and support staff including guest employee staff

• Coordinates new staff orientation meetings

• Coordinate the teacher performance evaluations

• Develops certified and non-certified staff handbooks

• Monitor all litigation and legislative matters for the school district for employment.

• Monitor teacher certification for compliance with NCLB and Michigan Certification

• Responsible for the maintenance of the official personnel files

• Chief spokesperson for negotiating all collective bargaining agreements

• Coordinate all aspects of employment contract administration during the terms of the various contracts with employee unions or organizations

• Administer the grievance procedures in the collective bargaining agreements

• Serve as the District’s Title IX Coordinator

• Serve as the District Civil Rights Officer

• Oversees the District Health Insurance Committee
• Oversees District Workers Compensation and Unemployment matters
