POSITION SUMMARY
Hawai‘i Foodbank (Foodbank or HFB) is seeking a Human Resources Manager to support Hawai‘i
Foodbank’s day-to-day human resources activities in keeping with the Foodbank’s overall mission, vision,
and values. The HR Manager will execute the Foodbank’s operational HR and employee engagement
strategies to foster a healthy team culture, strong internal communication, and high performance in service
of the Foodbank’s mission. This position will be responsible to provide overall HR support, in partnership
with Hawai‘i Foodbank’s outsourced HR partner, to include talent management, employee relations and
engagement, policies and procedures, benefit administration, and regularly recurring HR activities. The
successful candidate is experienced in creating a culture of engagement, collaboration and teamwork, and
can both develop policy and deliver results both as a hands-on contributor and a managerial professional.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Outsourced HR Partnership Support
The HR Manager works effectively with outsourced HR partners to leverage resources & technology to achieve
the Foodbank’s goals and objectives. Integrates and ensures effective relationships with, and utilization, of
outsourced firms’ contracted services; ensures firms are viewed as an extension of the HR department and add
value to the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• 5+ years of progressive HR and managerial experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a technical field from an
accredited four-year college or university.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of compensation programs, performance management, employee relations &
engagement, and talent acquisition.
• Knowledge of Hawai’i State and Federal labor laws and related regulatory
compliance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple
correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to
customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions,
and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to
calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages. Capable of compiling and
analyzing data to guide planning and decision making.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram
form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, TOOL, VEHICLES USED:
• Ability to use a computer workstation including keyboard, mouse, printer, fax, and multi-line phone
systems to execute tasks.
• Operate 10-key calculators.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Field work requiring driving for off-site vendors and programs
• Requires the use of computer and standard office equipment.
• The noise level is moderate to loud at times.
