Job Summary
The Controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the plant, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that report results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. The position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results to stakeholders including corporate office and plant senior leadership team as well as to confer and advise senior leadership team on financial performance.
Decision Making
Assignments are received in the form of broad goals and/or areas of responsibility. Associate has broad latitude (within the defined scope of responsibility) for independent action in setting objectives and deciding how to proceed, consistent with Corporate goals and objectives.
Span of Control
Leads professional staff of approximately two whose tasks are highly technical/professional in nature; typically exempt (salaried) individuals.
Key Accountabilities
· Supervise finance staff.
· Analyze and report monthly financial results.
· Prepare and reconcile financial forecasts.
· Prepare and present fixed asset requisitions and analysis.
· Coordinate annual plant-wide budget preparation and consolidation.
· Present monthly operations review.
· Track results and question plant personnel on ways to improve.
· Manage cash flow of facility and work closely with corporate personnel to maximize.
· Coordinate capital purchases.
· Performs, guides, and/or ensures the accomplishment of the following core management functions: planning, organizing, directing, staffing/employee selection and performance management, coordinating, reporting & budgeting.
Major Challenges
· Strict deadlines for month end and year end reporting.
· Numerous requests for financial data and reports.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Education
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience
· Must have degree in Accounting or Finance.
· Prefer MBA and/or CPA.
Cost accounting
· Must have at least 5 years of responsible manufacturing accounting experience.
· Must have excellent computer skills

· Proficiency in the following software applications: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook and Hyperion, sufficient to apply and /or support the application with minimal instruction or guidance; this level of proficiency is typically attainable through five-plus years of substantive experience with the applications.
· Motivates through ‘leading by example,’ coaching/mentoring and providing ongoing constructive feedback to subordinate staff; competent in systematically eliciting the best efforts and results from subordinate staff.
· Flexibility and the ability to work with shifting priorities; embrace new/evolving responsibilities.
· Balances multiple demands from superiors, subordinates, and/or peers in a positive and even-handed fashion; displays a calm demeanor under pressure.
