Salary: Starting at $80,000.00 depending on qualifications.
Hilo is located on the east side of the island of Hawaii, and has a quaint old-Hawaii, small-town atmosphere. The hospital staff is community-oriented. It is home to the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Community College, excellent schools and convenient shopping.
Position Focus: The function of this position is to provide implementation, oversight, and support for assigned construction and facility projects in the East Hawaii Region. The Assistant Administrator must adopt a standardized approach to the selection, implementation, controls, and governance of new initiatives from project beginning to project closure.
The Assistant Administrator will direct and manage assigned projects while following organizational policies, programs, budget, and schedules to accomplish goals and objectives. This position also directs assigned projects with adherence to planning, execution, monitoring, and closing within standard project management methodology.
Successful applicants will have experience with:
- Project management and construction (three years of project management; five years of construction preferred).
- Managing and leading large-scale projects of 1M+ (three and one-half years preferred).
- Creating and tracking projects (MS Project helpful).
- Use of a risk register.
- Staying on budget and schedule.
- Capital Improvement Project (CIP) experience.
- Evaluating, selecting, implementation, and maintenance of projects.
- Healthcare, The Joint Commission, and CMS.
- Management, leadership, and effective communication.
PMP, or equivalent certification, preferred.
Active Hawaii contractors license strongly preferred.
Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Excess work experience of responsible administrative or professional/analytical work experience which provided knowledge, skills, and abilities comparable to those acquired in four years of successful study while completing a university or college curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level, and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment physical examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
