Roles & Responsibilities: Roles & Responsibilities:
Primary:

• Works in close collaboration with Innovation, Marketing and Product Design Engineering from design concept inception to optimize the design for quality and manufacturability.
• Oversee and manage internal and external Firmware and APP Development. FRD (Functional Requirement Document) firmware/software section generation and responsibility.
• Helps validate the performance of the product design.
• Develops calibration, configuration, and functional test standards in collaboration with product design engineers.
• Responsible for developing, or facilitating development of, electronics assembly methods and equipment, firmware loading to circuit boards and equipment, and functional test methods and equipment.
• Responsible for implementing and qualifying all software and electronic designs into manufacturing.
• Works in close collaboration with Operations and Process Engineering to ensure manufacturing assembly effectiveness and to champion all changes that may affect production.
• In collaboration with product engineers, troubleshoots electronics-related problems with products transitioning to production.
• Trains production personnel for test methods and equipment usage instructions.
• Generates software for digital controls.
• Provides independent review and verification of software written by others.
• Responsible for all test equipment programming. For product development and production.

Secondary:

• May flex to assist with other mechanical equipment and fixturing for production.
• May build, hands-on, some equipment and fixturing.
• Travel to internal, external suppliers, and outside consultants as needed.

Qualifications / Competencies:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Software Development preferred.
• Completion of Firmware/Software development school training required if electrical engineering degree has not been completed.
• Creative problem solver and Self-learner.
• Must have at least three years’ experience in controls and automation.
• Must have three years minimum experience with the design and implementation of circuit boards, able to interpret required functionality of circuit boards for the purpose of firmware development.
• Display a comprehensive knowledge of ECN’s, BOM’s, and documentation systems, schematic capture & PCB Layout tools.
• Sufficient Understanding of power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC).
• A strong background in control theory and embedded programming experience are highly valuable.
• Good understanding of switching waveforms
• Excellent lab skills and problem solving ability; proficient in math analysis tools and circuit simulation tools.
• Proficiency with basic EE tools (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.).
• Experience with DSPs (Digital Signal Processors), microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices.
• Knowledge in environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for Commercial & Industrial applications, automotive applications preferred.
• Familiar with FCC wireless standards.
• Experience in programming languages for devices such as Microchip PIC and ARM microcontrollers.
• Experience with embedded compiler and debugging tools, software and code maintenance.
• Must be proficient at reading and interpreting electronics schematics.
• Teamwork – Strong understanding of team dynamics and fosters teamwork.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with various microcontroller architectures.
• Good oral and written communication.
