Description
Houghton University invites
applications for a full-time tenure track appointment in Special Education, in the Department of Education, at the Assistant or Associate
Professor rank, starting in the fall semester of 2024. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Special Education,
Inclusion, and Curriculum. Teaching will be in person, with some online teaching opportunities. Responsibilities will include teaching 3-4
courses per semester, advising students, departmental collaboration, service, and scholarship.

Required qualifications
The selected candidate will have:
- a terminal degree in
Special Education or related field (however candidates who are ABD are encouraged to apply) - mature Christian faith
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- a commitment to excellence and creativity in undergraduate teaching
- an
interest to integrate Christian faith into their teaching - an interest and willingness to support and mentor undergraduate
students.
Preferred qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who:
- hold current credentials in teaching Students with Disabilities, or Special Education
- have experience teaching in K-12
settings.
A successful applicant could come from either a K-12 teaching background or an academic teaching background.
The Education department at Houghton University consists of an experienced community of faculty who are passionate about preparing
teachers to teach in a variety of diverse and inclusive schools in service to others. Houghton University’s teacher licensure programs
require all students to complete an intensive field experience prior to a full semester of Student Teaching, locally or globally. Full Time
and Part Time faculty directly supervise students, both face and face and via video technology using edThena. The Education Department also
offers a fully online MSED in Literacy degree, allowing many of our UG student to complete GR courses prior to completing their
undergraduate degree.
Starting salary will be dependent on the candidates’ qualifications and experience

Salary Range: $44,000-$56,000
