We seek an exceptional individual to join the engineering team as an Electrical Design Engineer III. The successful applicant must possess a background in electrical engineering, an analytical and creative mind, a willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment, and an outstanding work ethic.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of product design including – systems architecture, electrical engineering design, component selection, embedded systems / microprocessor based design and programing, requirements documentation, design verification, design validation, regulatory compliance, test plan creation, test tools and test scripts development, DFM/DFT, design reviews, and DFMEA.
Lead projects ranging from short-term technology investigations to full-scale product development.
Work closely with Product Manager to develop thorough understanding of customers’ requirements. Analyze requirements and create Product Requirements and Technical Design documentation.
Create design that meets the requirements including cost, performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Accurately estimate BOM cost, NRE cost, regulatory certification cost, development effort, and schedule.
Actively manage development through phase-gate process. Must be able to manage risk and balance requirements vs. technical constraints, cost target, and schedule.
Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Industrial Designers, NPI Engineers, Regulatory Engineers, Quality Engineers, Production Engineers, Sourcing, and vendors in development efforts to ensure all design requirements are met.
Create PCBA and prototypes for all phases of product development, including Proof of Concept, EVT, and DVT units.
Perform engineering analysis, including DFMEA, worst case failure analysis, EMC analysis, derating analysis, and thermal analysis.
Create and execute test plans. Devises appropriate test methods to evaluate and debug electrical and electromechanical systems to ensure products meet performance and reliability specifications.
Work closely with CM/ODM partners, test labs, and regulatory certification agencies to ensure the products meet EMC/EMI, Safety, Energy Efficiency, and Reliability requirements.
Create Design-to-Production transfer related control documentation (schematic, gerber, BOM, firmware, release note, test reports) and manage the release through ECN process.
Support sustaining engineering and value engineering activities.
Provide support to Manufacturing Engineers for the creation of QA tools and test scripts.
Provide support to Customer Service and Quality Engineering teams in resolving customer issues.
Contribute to the research of emerging technology, industry trend, and competitive analysis.
Provide mentorship, support, and assistance to less experienced engineers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 9 years of experience as Electrical Engineer in product development with proven ability to effectively manage all phased of product development up to product launch.
Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
Outstanding technical writing, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills
Experience with creating and tracking schedules using project tracking tools such as Microsoft project
Knowledge in electrical design, schematic capture, electrical loads analysis, failure modes effects and criticality analysis.
Experience in CAD software such as Altium Designer
Experience with microcontroller designs (e.g. Atmel, Cypress, FTDI) and firmware development.
Experience with microcontroller peripheral interface and protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, RS485, LVDS)
Knowledge in EMC/EMI and ESD protection design and mitigation practices
Experience in equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, DAQ, multi-meters, etc.
Experience with managing UL, CSA, FCC, CE/CB certifications
Experience with electromechanical sensors and electric motor is a plus
Understanding of National Electrical Code for office furnishing is a plus
Experience with IEC60601-1 and IEC60601-1-2 for medical device is a plus
Knowledge in industry standards such as IEC60950, IEC62368, IEC61000, UL962A is a plus
Ability to travel to work with supplier worldwide
