IAM National Pension Fund Hiring for Computer Network Administrator Job at Washington, DC Full Time

The IAM National Pension Fund is seeking an experienced Computer Network Administrator to join our IT Department. We’re looking for an accomplished and innovative Computer Network Administrator to help establish the Gold Standard in Benefit Administration Industry. We’re implementing a new benefit administration system and integrating new technologies.

The IAM National Pension Fund is the 5th largest multiemployer pension fund in the United States with approximately $14 Billion in assets. The Fund has over 1,650 contributing employer locations and pays pension benefits to over 100,000 retires and beneficiaries, providing them with retirement security.

Overview:

• Assists the management and coordination of the day-to-day planning, design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the telecommunications network, local area network, and data center
• Assists with network strategic planning in accordance with corporate policy; coordinates activities with IT management, end-users, and vendors; recommends telecommunications policy and system changes
• Help Formulate, evaluate, and review long range network project plans for the implementation of new network technology and systems
• Confers with vendors concerning equipment and software systems, and coordinates with vendors involved in providing communications services
• Monitors utilization and performance levels and trends throughout the corporation to determine quality of service of both voice and data communications.
• Conducts needs assessments to evaluate necessary or beneficial system modifications. Performs feasibility studies and prepares systems proposals for management evaluation.
• Develops or assists in developing detailed system designs and specifications, network architecture, and project schedules for approval of senior management.
• Analyzes and initiates changes to existing operational systems.

Typical Functions:

• Assist in developing project plans designed to implement new technology and enhance existing systems
• Confers with various vendors to evaluate hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment and recommends procurement in coordination with department and organization standards
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of network operating systems and network management tools, as well as extensive experience with telecommunications hardware such as firewalls, routers, switches, bridges, fiber optics, etc. with emphasis on Cisco equipment.
• Experience in cloud services such as Microsoft Azure Cloud/Amazon AWS deployment, management and migration, Office 365.
• VOIP Unified communication solutions with UCaaS
• Helps initiate, facilitate, and promote activities to create information security awareness throughout the organization
• Monitors the internal control systems to ensure that appropriate access levels are maintained
• Develops and implements policies and standards and ensures their conformance to the organization’s security procedures and company objectives
• Provide Level 2 and 3 user support. Assists with Level 1 calls as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology or a computer related field, or equivalent work experience. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in network operations, analysis, and design. Certifications in ITIL, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A & Network+, CISSP, CISM are a plus.

Excellent work ethic, assertive and exercises sound judgment. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to articulate ideas and issues clearly and concisely with all levels within and outside of the organization. Excellent organizational skills, ability to plan & coordinate efforts, prioritize; adhere to deadlines, and follow-up through completion.
