Elementary Teacher (K-6)

The Icahn Charter Schools Network is seeking highly-qualified teachers to work at the elementary school-level. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong competence in the following areas, as well as meet our qualification benchmarks:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to create an active learning environment with lesson objectives that are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and New York State Learning Standards
• Use of differentiated instructional methods and assessments to support:
• Engaged learning
• Higher-order thinking skills
• Meaningful, authentic use of knowledge
• Integration of 21st century skills
• Multiple Intelligences
• Student accountability
• Development and distribution of clear evaluation criteria to students prior to assignments
• Use of formative and summative assessments to drive instruction and measure student and curricular progress
• Strong classroom management with adherence to school/network discipline policies and code of ethics
• Consistent and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues
• Shared responsibility of grade level and school-wide activities
• Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned
• Duties may include participating in faculty committees for the development of curricular programs and/or student activities, maintaining professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the network and in self-selected professional growth activities, etc.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Master’s degree (preferred)
• NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education and/or Childhood Education
• Candidates with additional certification in Students with Disabilities, Literacy, and/or Mathematics will be given priority
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Teaching experience (minimum of 2 years preferred)
