GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Logistics Coordinator performs in an operational, customer service, and sales support capacity. They are responsible for identifying the most efficient means of moving our customer’s freight, resolving client conflict, and building valuable relationships with carriers.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop continuous improvement processes for supply chain, procurement, strategic sourcing, distribution and logistics
• Streamline the last mile delivery to customer with leading edge tracking and notification
• LTL and parcel tracking and notification process implementation
• Manage freight damage corrective action plan for implementation with supply base
• Source carriers and potentially negotiate rates
• Will be fully responsible for the logistics and scheduling for all orders/transactions for the company
• Will regularly communicate with outside carriers, customers, vendors and industry partners to ensure successful completion of loads/orders
• Work closely with sales force on a daily basis to assist in creating, scheduling and executing pending and new orders
• Create and maintain monthly shipment schedules
• Prepare a variety of end of month reports related to said schedules
• Serves as point of contact for company by answering telephone and emails involving transportation and scheduling, and correctly distributing these to appropriate parties as needed in a timely manner
• Accurately request and assign load numbers/Releases with/from customers, vendors and carriers • Requesting, uploading and entering data/BOL/invoices/weight reports/other to the company’s data management system
• Prepare and maintain accurate dispatch schedules, including updates when necessary
• Continually monitor, prioritize and manage load schedule changes and respond in a timely and effective manner
• Will be responsible for managing and organizing all paperwork related to each transaction into the company’s data management system
• Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution
• Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data and work with detailed transactional information
• Manage frequent changes, delays, reshipments or unexpected events
• Reaching out to customers, vendors, partners and carriers to see what their immediate needs are/will be
• Maintaining up-to-date detailed account information including rates, backup files, changes to account, etc
• Reviews previous day’s transactions to ensure the transaction is complete
• Provide Customer Service Department with freight quotes when requested
• May also assist with other administrative responsibilities and coverage for team members as needed
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a logistical/scheduling environment or Bachelor Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field preferred. Trained and well versed in lean tools and processes,. Strong experience working with key Continuous Improvement tools (A3, Standard Work, Corrective Action, Rapid Improvement Event and Setup Reduction). Experience implementing processes and technology specific to supply chain optimization. Ambitious change agent that utilizes cross functional collaboration to achieve results. Experience with RFX. Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software.
