Job Description
The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a customer focused Human Resources professional to join our team and help us accomplish our Mission of Making Lives Better Through Transportation.
What you ll do:
As a Human Resources Associate you will be dedicated to performing a variety of HR functions; including, but not limited to: benefits, FMLA, catastrophic leave, retirement processing, and long-term disability. You will also provide benefits information to employees and processes related paperwork.
You will gain thorough knowledge of our Human Capital Management system (HCM) and will work closely with Department of Administrative Services-Human Resource Enterprise staff.
As a Human Resources Associate, you will work directly with all managers, supervisors, and employees to properly complete personnel transactions. You will work under recurring deadlines and time frames.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) Four years of full-time work experience in administrative support, at least two years of which were in a human-resources-related program area.
2) All of the following (a, b, and c):
One year of full-time work experience in administrative support in a human-resources-related program area; and
A total of one year of education and/or full-time experience in administrative support in a human-resources-related program area, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience in general administrative support, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
3) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Human Resources Technical Assistant, Human Resources Technical Specialist, Secretary (any level), or Administrative Assistant (any level).
