This is an extraordinary opportunity for an innovative and recognized leader to join Kansas
State University and its nationally recognized College of Architecture, Planning, and Design (APDesign) as Dean. Building off of the
College’s success and momentum, the ideal candidate is an inspirational, collaborative, dynamic, and approachable leader ready to
guide an innovative and interdisciplinary academic community committed to excellence in design, scholarship teaching and environmental
stewardship.
APDesign enjoys a trajectory of ongoing growth and the new Dean will have the skills to build on the momentum and
success of the College. Bringing a passion for education and a deep understanding of the design and planning professions, the new Dean will
work closely with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other constituents to craft a strategic vision and plan that advances the College as
well as the university.
At K-State, Deans are highly visible University leaders who can advance the missions of their colleges and
the university through a shared vision of education, teaching, research, and service. The Dean reports to the Provost and Executive Vice
President and serves on the Council of Academic Deans.
The College provides a unique educational model, providing graduates with the
capacity to make an immediate impact upon graduation while expanding the periphery of traditional practice. The College, housed in
state-of-the art facilities, is comprised of the departments of Architecture; Interior Architecture and Industrial Design; and Landscape
Architecture and Regional & Community Planning. It offers accredited professional graduate degree programs in each discipline, a graduate
degree in community development, an undergraduate degree in real estate & community development, and an interdisciplinary doctorate in
environmental design and planning. The College has approximately 90 faculty and staff and approximately 900 full-time students. In addition
to course offerings, the College provides extended professional internships, education abroad programs, including its APDesign Italian
Studies Program, field trips, and opportunities to participate in an urban design center in Kansas City. For additional information about

Responsibilities:
The Dean of the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design serves as the chief academic and
administrative officer of the College, providing leadership, strategic vision and direction, and support for the College. In addition, the
dean provides university leadership to support and promote the academic mission of the university. Specific responsibilities of the Dean

About the College of Architecture, Planning and Design
K-State Architecture’s top-ranked
professional program puts students on the path to becoming conscientious, well-rounded, licensed architects. APDesign offers multiple paths
into the professions of architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, industrial design, regional and community planning, and
community development. APDesign offers both on-campus and online degrees. On-campus degrees provide two different paths to master’s degrees
in five professional programs.
