The Kent State University School of Visual Communication Design invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position. This is a 9-month, full-time faculty position available starting August 2023. The selected candidate will be expected to teach all levels of illustration, and to engage in departmental duties, committee work, campus activities, and scholarship.
We highly value candidates who will advance the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) through their research/creative activity, teaching, and student-centered engagement. Diversity involves recognizing the value of differences and the inclusion of all members of the community. This is one of several core values we embrace as we strive for a culturally diverse student body, faculty and staff that reflect the multicultural nature of Ohio, the nation, and our world. Candidates who demonstrate a commitment to best practices in DEI&B are strongly encouraged to apply.
The School of Visual Communication Design (VCD) is a rigorous and dynamic program that offers comprehensive undergraduate (BA and BFA) and graduate (MA and MFA) degree programs. Our undergraduate and graduate students have become leaders, scholars, and active participants in the national and international design community. Recently, VCD moved into a newly renovated facility that provides students with an abundance of studio space, photo studios, a large computer lab, a gallery and a Creative Lab. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), VCD is uniquely housed in the College of Communication and Information (CCI). CCI is the only college in the nation that combines design, technology, media, information, and communication in one interdisciplinary college. CCI and its schools offer a supportive and collaborative environment that values both research/creative activity and teaching.
