POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a member of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Manager for the Benefits and Compensation team will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources department in a variety of manners. The Human Resources Manager’s main responsibilities will focus on overseeing the leave and benefits functions within the HR department. Responsibilities also include coordinating with the HR Customer Service team, supporting benefits renewal and open enrollment, overseeing leave coordination and administration, and collaborating with other Talent teams on cross-functional projects. The Human Resources Manager works closely with various departments, including Payroll and Finance, and all headquarters staff. This is an exempt role, and it will report to the Director of Human Resources, Benefits and Compensation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leave and Absence Administration – 60%
Manage leave programs including FMLA, parental leave, medical leave, unpaid leave, and workers compensation
Administer the completion of timely employee data entry to help facilitate seamless payroll processing
Partner with vendors as it relates to DC Paid Family Leave, short term disability, long term disability, workers compensation, and life insurance
Partner with the Payroll team and works collaboratively to resolve any issues
Partner with the HR Customer Service team as it relates to employees on leave or workers compensation
Partner with the Benefits Manager as it relates to benefit deductions and arrears
Ensure employees feel knowledgeable and supported upon inquiring about leave, throughout the leave process, and upon return from leave
Creates clear communication and tools for employees to understand their leave benefits.
Benefits and Compensation Administration Support – 20%
Supports with KIPP DC wellness initiatives and programs
Partner with the legal team on employee accommodations and complex employee leave scenarios
Support benefits renewal and open enrollment process
Ensure employee benefit questions are answered timely and accurately
Partner with the Payroll team and works collaboratively to resolve any issues
Support the team on team-wide projects
Oversee the creation and maintenance of job descriptions
Support other responsibilities and projects within benefits, as needed
Auditing and Compliance – 20%
Manages KIPP DC’s system and process for job descriptions, reviews and ensures they are up to date and consistent, collaborates with other teams
Maintain and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Support the periodic auditing of benefits and 403b related data
Proactively engage in other information vetting processes as needed
Assist with compliance and internal audits
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Two to three years of relevant experience required
Familiarity with D.C. leave programs and laws a plus
Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s mission
Outstanding organizational skills and extraordinary attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
