La Clinica de La Raza Hiring for Human Resources Generalist (Wage and Hour Compliance/Employee Relations) at Oakland, CA Full Time

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department with a focus on employee and labor relations specifically wage and hour compliance, occasional duties may include assisting with hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Your primary support is as a liaison between a centralized HR function and employees across a highly distributed work environment, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of inquiries. Ultimately, you help ensure our HR department is organized and works to attract, hire and support our mission-driven workforce.

Primary Responsibilities

Interpret and provide guidance to supervisors on matters of the collective bargaining agreement, personnel policies as well as federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Handle routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.

As a subject matter expert, may develop and present regular training and presentations to supervisors to enhance their knowledge of HR principles and best practices.

Assist with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.

Help oversee and facilitate annual Performance Review Process agency wide.

Continuous Professional Development: Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

May perform other HR Generalist duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

Minimum one year of professional human resource management experience preferred.

PHR / SHRM-CP professional certification strongly preferred.

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
