Bargaining Unit: Local 856 – Health Services Unit

The Contra Costa Health Services Department is recruiting for one (1) qualified candidate interested in the Laboratory Technician I position assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) in Martinez, CA. This position may also have to cover shifts at the Health Centers located in the East, West and Central County locations. This position is on a rotation schedule and the incumbent will be required to work weekends.
This position is the entry-level position in this classification series. Under supervision, this position will assist licensed and certified personnel in specimen collection and processing, will be responsible in collecting blood, urine samples, along with other lab samples from patients, and will process the specimens which include receiving of specimens in the Laboratory Information System. In addition, this position will also assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientists with performing testing in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, virology, mycobacteriology, mycology, urinalysis, coagulation, and will perform other related work as required.
