Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to and will receive direction from the Human Resources Manager.
The primary responsibility of the Human Resources Assistant is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties on a daily basis which include (but are not limited to) the following:
Leave Administration
LOA administration including FMLA, ADA, and Personal Leaves of Absence
Track and report employee leaves to include FMLA
Stay abreast of ADA and FMLA requirements and ensure the company is maintaining compliance with all laws
Recruiting and Onboarding
Assist in managing employee onboarding
Screen and interview candidates for selected positions as assigned
Schedule interviews for selected positions as assigned
Be primary backup for recruiting functions
Benefits
Answer questions on employee benefit programs, salaries, and other applicable programs.
Assist the HR Generalist in Open Enrollment
Facilitate the employee recognition program as well as other employee engagement opportunities through the year.
General Administration
Administer the company’s unemployment program with the assistance of the HR Generalist
Lead the employee engagement committee
Assist the HR Generalist, Safety and Training Coordinator, and other roles with the administration of workplace investigations as requested.
Maintain assigned documentation using the HRIS and other recordkeeping systems
Assist in booking travel for employees and candidates
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: The HR Assistant should have certain hard and soft skills, including:
Basic knowledge of administrative tasks and responsibilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced computer skills, including data entry, data processing, communication tools and payroll and human resources software
Problem solving and resourceful thinking
Strong empathy and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills
Attention to detail and analytically driven
Education and/or Experience: The following items are required to be successful in this position:
Bachelors Degree in Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
1-3 years of HR or related experience
The following items are preferred:
Two years experience in HR and/or benefits administration
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Mathematical Skills: Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems associated with payroll as well as the ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations). There is an occasional need to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
Reasoning Ability: Deductive Reasoning – the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Inductive Reasoning – the ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: SHRM-CP or equivalent is preferred
