JOB PURPOSE
Be a key part of the team which manages and prepares the consolidated financial statements of Liberty Global in accordance with US GAAP for timely and accurate filing of quarterly SEC documents. As Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for owning the relationship with certain Operating Companies in the group and reviewing their output, alongside preparing various key schedules for the Consolidation of the group. A key part of the role is also providing US GAAP and IFRS accounting & reporting guidance to our subsidiary Operating Companies’ accounting & reporting teams.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Consolidation Accounting:
- Perform the following functions on a monthly or quarterly basis, as applicable
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules for reasonableness and completeness
- Resolve issues with reported data directly with operating subsidiaries
- Translate results as submitted by operating subsidiaries in accordance with ASC 830
- Consolidate results in accordance with US GAAP including the generation of adjusting and eliminating journal entries
- Prepare statements of stockholders’ equity including calculation of NCI, acquisitions using LG shares and complicated share-based payment schemes.
- Prepare cash flow statements under the indirect method in accordance with ASC 230
- Review and understand complicated accounting transactions (specifically debt, equity, cash flow and foreign exchange matters)
Consolidation Financial Reporting:
- Perform the following functions on a quarterly basis
- Assist with work paper preparation/review
- Assist auditors with annual audit and quarterly reviews
- Assist Financial Reporting department with 10-Q/10-K
- Review Equity, NCI, SBC, cash flow and various other disclosures in the 10-Q/10-K for adherence to US GAAP and SEC regulations
- Assist with special projects/requests for information as required by department head
- Maintain control environment documented for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance as it relates to consolidations and reporting
- Review various Dept. of Commerce quarterly and annual report filings
- Prepared to work on acquisition integration, working onsite to tight deadlines in order to make sure new acquired entities are aligned to LG USGAAP accounting and reporting guidelines.
- Ability to present complicated accounting transactions to senior leaders
- Hyperion Financial Management system experience:
- Central point of contact for metadata changes
- Participate in Change Management Board Meetings
- Provide updated guidance to subsidiaries
- Assist in providing HFM training to subsidiaries
- Assist in identifying and implementing HFM system and Consolidation process improvements to accelerate completion of the quarterly close cycle
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
PREFERRED EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 year college degree. Emphasis in Accounting.
- 2+ years. Public accounting experience preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Good communication skills
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
- Experience with public company SEC reporting requirements
- Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) system experience preferred
- Flexibility to work overtime during quarter end and major projects
Compensation
- The salary range for this role is $70,000-88,000 .00, based on level of experience.
