LIBRARY MEDIA CLERK I
BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform clerical functions related to the acquisition, processing, cataloging,
storage, circulation, and recovery of library and reference books, and instructional materials and media.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
-Receive and process books, periodicals, instructional materials, and media;
-receive orders and answer questions as appropriate
-maintain circulation and distribution records
operate a computer to maintain records
-prepare and maintain a variety of file and record systems, including shelf and storage -lists and records, catalog cards, and other files and records
-assist in collecting and circulating books, periodicals, and instructional media
-assist in locating materials for classroom use and materials pertaining to specific subject matter areas
-lift, transport, arrange, shelve, box, and package books and instructional materials
-maintain a neat and orderly library media center environment
-repair and mend damaged books and other instructional material as required
-perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on instructional media equipment
-collect fines and maintain cash receipts records as required assist in monitoring
-student behavior and supervise students in the library as assigned
-develop interest center displays as required
-assist in the preparation of requisitions for books and instructional materials as -required; assist in the library inventory process;
-perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Modern office methods, practices, and equipment;
Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation;
Library media center classification systems;
Basic arithmetical concepts;
Student behavior management strategies and techniques;
Standard library reference sources, books, and other library related materials.
Ability to:
Effectively perform library clerical functions, including circulation and cataloging functions;
Maintain a variety of records and filing systems pertaining to a library media center;
Utilize a variety of reference resource guides;
Type at a net corrected speed of 40 words per minute;
Communicate effectively in oral and written form;
Understand and follow oral and written directions;
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from High School supplemented by training or coursework in library clerical or
general clerical areas and one year of clerical experience, preferably including some experience in a library or
instructional materials center.

Library environment;
Constant interruptions.
Physical Abilities:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard;
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time;
Climbing a stepladder to retrieve equipment and materials;
Seeing to read a variety of materials;
Hearing and speaking to exchange information;
Lifting light to moderately heavy objects;
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally;
Kneeling or crouching.

HEALTH INSURANCE Provided for employee and spouse as eligible (primary/secondary) and dependent children. Employee cost of $247.74- 10 months per year. However, if your spouse has coverage available through his/her employer, they must enroll on his/her employer’s plan. This district’s plan will provide secondary coverage
SISC III/Blue Cross 80/60 Prudent Buyer Plan –
$3000 maximum deductible per family with individual maximum deductible of $1000 per person for calendar year. $20 co-pay for office visits $20 co-pay for specialists and $200 co-pay for emergency room visits. SUPPLEMENTAL
CANCER INSURANCE Mestmaker District-paid for employee and eligible family members.
DENTAL Guardian – District-paid for employee only. $2000 maximum benefits per calendar year. Option to add dependents at employee expense is available for $50.53 per month for one dependent; $87.94 per month for two or more dependents. There is also Ortho coverage $2,000 lifetime max per family member in network coverage only.

VISION Vision Service Plan – District-paid for employee only. Coverage includes an examination and lenses once every 12 months and frames once every 24 months. Dependents can be added to the plan for a cost

LIFE INSURANCE The Standard – Decreasing term life insurance policy provided for employee at District expense. Spouse and dependent children are also covered in the amount of $1500. Accidental Death and dismemberment Insurance is provided for employee only. There is an option to add additional coverage for employee and family members at employee’s expense. DISABILITY Guardian. – District-paid income protection for employee

OPEN ENROLLMENT is held each year in August. All employees may add/drop dependents on their Health and Dental coverage’s, or add additional AD&D coverage during the open enrollment period, with all changes taking effect on October 1.
All employees having family events, (i.e. marriage, new babies, or divorce) you must notify the Employee Benefits Clerk to make the required changes to their health insurance within 30 days or the carriers may refuse coverage.
