We are seeking a talented Molecular Medical Technologist in the Lombard , IL area to join our team.

This is a full-time position with a competitive wage. The Medical Technologist performs complex technical work involving molecular analysis of human biological materials. The role will focus on COVID-19 PCR testing in the Molecular department of our Clinical Laboratory, where you will perform both automated and manual testing with the overall goal of providing results that will be used for the diagnosis and management of COVID-19. The Molecular Technologist independently executes routine tasks as trained.

Qualified candidates must have 1 – 2 years Clinical Laboratory experience in Molecular Biology/PCR, required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Molecular Technologist has an extremely important role at Lifeline Bisciences..

• Evaluate specimens received by the department and organize workflow to provide optimum efficiency of testing and turnaround time of results
• Extract, denature and purify DNA from assorted specimen types
• Perform PCR, hybridization, and genetic sequencing methods
• Evaluate results to determine interference, inhibition, or other problems that arise during extraction, amplification, or sequencing of DNA
• Perform quality control, validation, and other quality activities to verify performance of clinical assays
• Maintain equipment by performing assigned maintenance activities and troubleshoot unexpected problems with equipment
• Record data to monitor temperatures of incubation equipment
• Evaluate inventory of supplies and reagents and communicate order needs
• Operate complex equipment and computer programs related to equipment and LIS system
• Maintain records of test results and archives of data
• Maintain a neat and clean work environment
• Perform proficiency testing to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies
• Assist department in writing and maintaining standard operating procedures for clinical assays. Document knowledge by reviewing and signing SOPs annually
• Follow laboratory procedures such as attendance and time reporting policies
• Assists in the maintenance of department stock and supply levels by being aware of reagents and consumables used and notifying Supervisor when stocks are low
• Assists in maintaining department in a clean and orderly manner
• Adheres to all safety regulations and ensures departmental compliance
• Demonstrate a high degree of professional judgment with issues related to the technical, procedural and personnel aspects of the designated area.
• Demonstrate exemplary attendance, reliability and skill with interpersonal relationships with all company staff and clients.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Performs other duties as required

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required /PCR testing preferred
• MT (ASCP) or MB (ASCP) certification preferred

Work Environment:

OSHA RISK FACTOR: CATEGORY 1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee has frequent contact with water (handwashing and cleaning), biohazardous body fluids, and hazardous chemicals.
