Organization is seeking a Human Resources Assistant for a 9 month temporary assignment. This position may extend based on the needs of the department and Organization. The Human Resources Assistant will provide administrative support to the Human Resources department and will be expected to be able to make routine decisions using established guidelines.
Job Duties:
Provide administrative support to learning and performance project teams
Contribute to process improvement and development of standard operating procedures
Prepare Human Resources records for digitizing
Contribute to personnel file audits
Complete job description content reviews
Provide administrative support to ensure effective department operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of general principles of Human Resources management programs and practices
Knowledge of general principles of payroll programs and practices
Knowledge of record keeping systems for Human Resources administration
Knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations
Knowledge of Windows based computers
Ability to gather data, perform analyses, and prepare reports
Ability to use office equipment, including Windows based computers
Ability to provide excellent customer service, in sometimes stressful situations, to both internal and external customers
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, City staff, and the public
Ability to maintain confidentiality of business records and other information
Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy of information and meeting deadlines
Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
Qualifications:
A combination of experience, education, and training which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position
One year of experience working in a Human Resources related capacity
High school diploma or GED
Associate’s degree in Human Resources management, business administration, or a related field preferred
Must possess, or have the ability to possess within one month of hire date, a Washington State Driver’s License
Work Environment:
Primarily in an office with occasional out of town travel to conferences, seminars, etc.
Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
Physical demands and characteristics of the work environment require the employee to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear. Employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move 10 to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
