The Senior Benefits Manager, Health & Welfare will lead the day-to-day Masterbrand Cabinets’ benefits operations and have overall responsibility of the employee experience with the Masterbrand Cabinets health and welfare plans. This role will also provide critical analysis, guidance, and expertise on the development of the overall MasterBrand Cabinets benefits strategy.

This role can be fully remote. We also have hubs in Cleveland, Chicago, and Dallas.

Responsibilities:

• Support the development and communication of long-term benefits strategy including:
• Health and welfare strategy
• Wellbeing strategy
• Leave Management strategy
• Manages overall Health & Welfare vendor relationships including participating in negotiations with benefits vendors and managing contracts.
• Leads annual enrollment planning and execution process.
• Oversees health and welfare billing and budgeting processes.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the market dynamics, key competitor benefit plan designs, and industry trends; provides recommendations on benefit programs based on detailed competitive analysis.
• Partners with HR Business Partners, functional teams, and business leaders to ensure benefits programs are aligned with business goals and needs.
• Develops SLAs for benefits service delivery and outsources benefits administration partner.
• Ensures the continual development of benefits team members.
• Ensures system functionality between HRIS benefits vendors and payroll; assists in the development and implementation of new vendors and benefits offerings.
• Manages updates to policy and plan documents.
• Stays current on applicable laws/state leave programs and local PTO changes.
• Work with outside consultants to co-lead the annual renewal process for all MBCI. Includes working with MBCI finance leaders on forecasting medical plan expenses as well as working with leaders on overall strategy and contribution strategy.
• Manage health and welfare plan compliance and governance.
• Partner with the Retirement team to complete periodic risk analysis and develop risk mitigation plans.
• Manage all required plan amendments and restatements, including summary plan description updates.
• Work with the Retirement team to develop an annual compliance calendar to ensure due dates for notice distributions, plan disclosures, and various plan-related regulatory filings are completed timely.
• Manage ERISA appeals process.
• Manage ad-hoc Cabinets benefit projects.

Skills and Abilities:

• Experience with handling both day-to-day and complex benefit inquiries.
• Strong knowledge of database, report writing and HRIS systems.
• Requires strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong detail and analytical prowess.
• Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with focus on confidentiality
• Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in benefits administration and operations
• At least 3 years of people management experience required
• Strong HR benefit knowledge or administration of health and welfare plans
• Knowledge of legal regulations including ERISA, ACA, PPACA, IRS, DOL, HIPAA, COBRA, Section 125, ADA, FMLA and Medicare.
• Experience with 5500 filings is necessary.
