A Mechanical Engineer III performs moderately difficult engineering work in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems, and/or in the review and analysis of plans and specifications for mechanical engineering features and compliance with code requirements.

There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Planning and Permitting, Building Division, located in Honolulu.
The Mechanical Engineer III will perform professional mechanical engineering work in reviewing and approving plans, specifications and calculations of buildings and structures for compliance with the Plumbing Code and/or other pertinent codes or regulations.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two years of non-registered professional Mechanical Engineering experience.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid driver’s license (Type 3/automobile) as needed.
