Operations Manager – Nutrition Services

Location: District Wide

Shift: Monday – Friday, 8.0 hours/day, 260 Days (Full Year)

Position available: August 2022

COMPENSATION: $19.64-$21.45 per hour (Standard Employee Benefit Package)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Strong leadership abilities including strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to plan, schedule, direct and supervise the work of other employees
• Ability to work independently, efficiently and accurately under tight time constraints
• Ability to work cooperatively with the building principals, staff, students and parents
• Must have strong computer skills including the use of email, Word, Excel, Publisher
• Experience with a computerized point of sale system preferred
• Large scale cooking or baking experience preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of School Food Service Basics, including meal patterns, components, reimbursable meals and USDA regulations
• Strong ability to plan and organize time and work to complete multiple tasks in an efficient manner while supervising the work of others
• Thorough knowledge of food sanitation and safety along with local Health Department regulations
• Maintain ServSafe Certification
• Ability to keep records and make s according to USDA and Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requirements
• Knowledge of complete kitchen operation and commercial kitchen equipment
• Excellent attendance record
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job
• Must demonstrate knowledge in a written skills assessment test

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide operational support for ten (10) K-12 education food service operations
• Review and update department food safety plan and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) annually
• Work with Managers and Satellite Coordinators to improve quality, presentation and efficiency in all operations
• Assist with interviewing and hiring nutrition services employees
• Provide entry level training on school food service basics and food safety to new hires
• Assist Nutrition Services Director with annual workshops for nutrition services staff and ongoing staff training throughout the year
• Work with kitchen managers on menu and standardized recipe development and utilization of USDA Foods (commodities)
• Assist Nutrition Services Director with the review and analysis of menus and compliance at point of service at all levels to ensure compliance with USDA nutrition standards
• Develop and implement annual district wide marketing and promotional plans including assistance with a student food show/taste testing annually
• Schedule substitutes when employees are absent
• Maintain inventory worksheets, consolidate and extend annual food and supply inventories for year end
• Assist Nutrition Services Director with free/reduced meal applications
• Complete annual On-Site reviews for all ten (10) operations
• Assist staff with catering functions when needed
• Fill in for Managers and Satellite Coordinators when needed
• Regular, in-person attendance is required
• Other duties which may be assigned
